And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.
2 Timothy 2:2
At the Global Leadership Summit last week, Craig Groeschel shared 8 powerful words about delegation:
“Delegating tasks creates followers. Delegating authority creates leaders.”
Followers wait for direction. Leaders serve others through teaching them how it’s done, and then willingly empower them to do their work.
Followers doubt their own strengths and play up their own weaknesses. Leaders serve others through going after the support they need to build a formidable team.
Followers hesitate until conditions are perfect. Leaders serve others through carrying the vision forward and putting it into action against all odds.
In your company, which do you want to cultivate – followership or servant leadership? If you want servant leaders, stop delegating tasks. Start delegating authority.
As Craig also said. “Leaders can have control or growth, but you cannot have both!”
I look forward to hearing your stories of service, empowerment, and forward progress.
Blessings,
But God’s word is not chained.
