Have you ever had a teacher/leader/coach/parent attempt to give you direction with a painfully long-winded description and when they finish you’re left scratching your head.  You proceed to ask for clarification by paraphrasing what you think they meant in a single sentence and they reply with “exactly”….  Well why didn’t they just say that in the first place?

Simplicity is the secret to seeing things clearly.

Galatians 5:14 says: For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” That seems simple enough. Focus on relationships, and be a great friend.

The same is true for leadership. Simplicity is king.  A leader’s core responsibility can be summed up in a single sentence:

Steward the Company’s Purpose, Vision, & Values.

Servant leaders always think about why the company exists, what the company wants to create, and how they are going to behave along the journey.  Every action and decision is bounced against the advancement of these criteria.  Once you start doing this, everything becomes delightfully simple.

Wishing you simplicity and clarity in your life and leadership!

Mark

He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27
